Undergraduate Studies in Philosophy
- Philosophy Subjects 2012 taught in The School of Historical and Philosophical Studies
There are a number of different ways to study philosophy as an undergraduate at the University of Melbourne.
Bachelor of Arts (Pass Degree)
The Bachelor of Arts is a three year full-time (or up to ten years, part-time) degree in which a student completes a range of courses from throughout the Faculty of Arts (and beyond), including a major, constituting a concentration in a particular area of study, such as philosophy.
Bachelor of Arts (Honours Degree)
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree is a more advanced and specialised course of study requiring a higher standard of performance than for the pass degree. It enhances your ability to acquire advanced skills of analysis, to develop original ideas, and to apply innovative solutions to complex problems. The BA (Hons) involves one additional year of study at fourth-year level. Students may specialise in philosophy (pure honours) or philosophy combined with another area (combined honours).
Philosophy as Breadth in Other Degrees
Philosophy offers a wide range of Breadth offerings for students of New Generation degrees.
Single Subjecty Study (Community Access Program)
The Community Access Program allows students and members of the general public to sample philosophy subjects without being enrolled in a formal degree.
